About American Softwoods

American Softwoods are renowned for their strength, flexibility and versatility. They are grown mainly in the Western and South Eastern States of America and have been exported for almost 400 years.

The diverse and wide-ranging applications of American Softwoods fall into three main categories;

  • Industrial
  • Commercial
  • Structural Domestic

This is the official European website of American Softwoods, which represents the Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA) and the Softwood Export Council.   

The Southern Pine Council is a promotional program supported by members of the Southern Forest Products Association.  For more information on Southern Pine and its availability outside Europe, click on the Southern Pine by Design logo below.

The member agencies of the Softwood Export Council (SEC) are:

  • Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau
  • Redwood Inspection Services (a division of the California Redwood Association)
  • West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau
  • Western Wood Products Association
  • North Eastern Lumber Manufacturers
